Patriots Place Third in Hampton Tourney

In a ruthless battle, the Clarkson-Leigh Patriots played Silver Lake, Deschler, and Mead on September 28th. Their first game was against Silver Lake, then Mead, and Deschler.

The girls were warmed up and ready to play Silver Lake, they knew what had to be done to win and they were persistent. The first set it was close, but the Patriots pulled away 25-21. Then the next set came and the Patriots still held them off 25-19.

Now that the first game was complete it was on to Mead, they knew it was going to be a harder game. The first set came and the Patriots came out strong but lost the set 20-25. Then it was time for the next set and then Mead knew all of our weaknesses and many unforced errors occurred so Mead took the set 25-13.

“The Hampton tournament went really well!  It's always good to play different teams from outside of our conference and teams we don't normally see during our season!  We went 2-1 and placed 3rd which we would consider a great outing!  The girls played really well together and did a lot of great things!  We lost to a very good Mead team. We put up a great battle, but just couldn't hang with them,” said head coach Rebecca Schnieder.

After the loss against Mead the Patriots regrouped and was ready to tackle their last game against Deschler. They came out with a will to win and took both sets 25-23 then the second set 25-13.

“We played very well at this tournament. We communicated well and had a lot of energy throughout the entire tournament,” said junior, Cassidy Hoffman. “Mead was a great opponent and even though we lost, we were happy with the outcome because we played hard. It was definitely a successful weekend, and we were happy coming out with a third-place medal.”
