Girls and Boys BB C Teams Lose to Howells-Dodge

As the saying goes, don’t get lost in your loss. The Clarkson-Leigh boys and girls C-Team basketball continues to work hard even after a tough loss. On Monday, January 20, the boys and girls C-Team had a home game in Clarkson. The Patriots competed against Howells Dodge.

To start the night off, the girls played Howells Dodge and lost with a score of 18-45. They battled throughout the game, but it was not enough to pull off a win.

Freshmen Korbee Wendt said, “I thought that we played aggressive and hustled, but we just let them have too many shots that we should have covered."

Coach Abby Sayers said, “I think the girls did a great job navigating through H-D's press, and we did a nice job handling the ball.  We need to work on our communication and defense, but the girls are improving and played hard.”

The second game of the night, the Patriot boys played against Howells Dodge and unfortunately lost also, with a score of twenty-two to thirty-three.

Coach Jeff Bachman said, “We didn't perform up to our standard against Howells-Dodge. We did some good things, but we need to shoot better, do a better job taking care of the ball, and rebound better to beat good teams. We will learn from this and keep improving.”

Freshmen Dalton Zulkoski said, “I think it was a great learning experience. We needed to make our lay-ups and not throw lazy passes. In my opinion, we were the better team we just needed to show it.”

The boys and girls C-Teams have competed and battled well so far this season. Both teams are hoping to finish out the rest of the season strong and keep improving.
