Girls Basketball Opens Season 1-1
The Patriot girls’ basketball team started off the season 1-1 on December 5th and 6th with a loss to Humphrey-Lindsay at home in Leigh and a win against Madison.
Against Humphrey-Lindsay, the girls kept it tight in the first half with a score of 8-8 at the end of the first quarter and trailing 20-25 at half. But the Patriots were outscored by 10 in the second half to end up losing 37-52.
The team was led by senior Ava Kasik with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. Junior Maizie Stoklasa also had a solid game, recording 8 points, 5 boards, and 7 steals.
Against Madison, the girls were hungry for their first win of the season. The came out firing, outscoring the Dragons 25-4 in the first half and widening their lead to a 52-16 final in the second half.
The Pats were again led by Kasik with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals. Senior Liz Hoffman added 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.
