Patriot Boys Defeat Schuyler in Holiday Tourney
On December 30-31, the boys’ basketball team traveled to Scotus for this year’s holiday tournament, finishing 1-1. On December 30, the Patriot boys played the Scotus Shamrocks in the first round of the tournament.
The Patriots went up against a tough team. Going into halftime, the score was 23-47. They fought their hardest, but could not keep up with the Scotus Shamrocks. Unfortunately, the Patriots took a tough loss with a final score of 44-82.
Against Schuyler Cash Fehringer led the team with 14 points. Kyle McMullin had 9 points and 11 rebounds.
Junior, Blake Loseke, said, “We went up against a tough team and we worked hard, but we just couldn’t keep up with them.”
Bouncing back the second day of the Holiday Tournament on Wednesday the 31st, the Patriot boys team took it to the Schuyler Warriors, 55-48.
It was a really great team effort from everyone in this win, with Easton Brabec leading the team with 18 points and 10 rebounds. McMullin had 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Tucker Matthies added another 15 points.
“I was proud of how we came out after the break and battled,” said Head Coach Jeff Bachman. “We showed some signs of rust, but the guys worked through it and we picked up a nice win against Schuyler.”
The win against Schuyler brings the boys’ record to 2-8 heading into the January stretch.
