Junior High Girls Begin BB Season
A total of 17 girls make up on the Clarkson-Leigh junior high basketball team this year!
To kick off the new season, the junior high girls’ basketball team first had a home game in Clarkson versus Shelby-Rising City on Monday November 17th. The next day on the 18th they traveled to Scotus for yet another tough battle. Unfortunately, both games were sadly lost, but the girls played hard.
The girls are coached by Rebecca Hiatt and assisted by Tami Sayers and Melissa Brabec.
Assistant Coach Mrs. Melissa Brabec stated, "It is great to see so many girls competing and learning new skills, some that have never tried basketball before! We have a fast and furious schedule this year with 11 games by the end of December. The girls have been working hard on fundamentals and developing their basketball skills. It is great to see so much improvement already and exciting to think about how much better they will be by the end of the year!”
Eighth grader Ella Hansen commented, “For our first 2 games, we went up against two very good teams. We have things to work on, but overall, we did good as a team”. Although with a harder start to the season the girls are playing well and continue to get better along the way. Best of luck to these girls for the rest of their season!
