Patriots Sweep DCA

The Clarkson-Leigh Patriot girls’ and boys’ basketball teams played two tough games versus David City Aquinas on January 6th.

Starting the marathon off right, both of the JV teams pulled off wins. The JV girls won 17-7 after a good team win. The JV boys also won in a close game 28-23.

The girls’ varsity game then came next, where they battled hard. The game was very close, and the team played hard together, but the girls lost in the end. The final score was 42-53.

Senior Nevaeh Zulkoski said, “We played a good game against the Monarchs. We fell short just a couple of points, but we won’t hang our heads and we will bring more energy for what the rest of the season brings. It is always a lot of fun playing with my team and making memories.”

The boys then played where they would pick up their 3rd win of the season. After starting off slow in the first quarter trailing by 5 points, the boys came back to beat out the Monarchs by 7 in a very back-and-forth match. The end score was 51-44.

Sophomore starter Easton Brabec stated, “This was a very exciting game where we fought hard. We played together as a team and used lots of our past skills to play together to win.”

“I was proud of our guy's effort. We started out slow, but we kept our heads, kept working together and fought back to get a big win for us,” said head coach Jeff Bachman.

The girls’ and boys’ currently have the same record of 3-8.
