During the week of February 8-12, the Patriot boys’ basketball team knew they had two tough road games on the schedule.
Against Pierce on Tuesday, February 9, the Patriots had a very disappointing showing, losing 21-53.
Coach Jeff Bachman said, “We ran into a really good team against Pierce. We did not compete up to our potential, and unfortunately the score reflected it.”
With the Patriots scoring just 21 points total, the leading scorers were seniors Lance Paprocki and Trevor Zulkoski with 6 points each.
The Patriots, with a new record of 9-9 after the game in Pierce, faced off against the Stanton Mustangs the following Thursday, February 11. The outcome of this game was much different, as the Patriots came out and competed with determination, which resulted in a 62-57 triumph over the Mustangs.
Coach Jeff Bachman also said, “This was a great bounce-back game for us. We executed our game plan very well and picked up an important conference road win.”
Carter Hanel was unstoppable in the paint with 25 points and 18 rebounds. Eli Hays added 14 points and 4 steals in the victory.
