Student Opinion: Why Collegiate Athletes Should only get One Transfe

This is the problem with college athletes across the country. I enjoy watching college football in the fall and love seeing the small teams win. I believe I have come up with many reasons on why college athletes should only be allowed one transfer for their entire collegiate career.
I believe that one of the biggest flaws in college sports is the NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) factor. All of the top collegiate athletes get bought by big colleges with more money than smaller colleges. Players shouldn't go to a college based on how much they are getting paid to go there. They should go to where they think the best fit for them is.
Frequent roster changes destroy team chemistry. When players switch schools every year, they also will have a hard time getting their degree. A coach will also fail to build a strong bond with his or her players. If you have kids coming in and out of colleges year after year, it also puts the coaches at a disadvantage because they have to frequently rebuild their roster that they worked so hard to obtain.
I believe that if these athletes are allowed only one transfer for their entire collegiate career, it forces them to either stay or make a very careful decision on what team they want to go to. If a football player wants to transfer out after his freshman year, he will be forced to do research and actually talk to his teammates and coaches, which also starts to build chemistry. It will also make them realize how important their commitment out of high school will be, so they don't just think to themselves and say, “I can just transfer out if I don’t like these colleges every single year.”
The transfer portal has been a great addition to college sports, but now teams and players are just abusing it year after year to get the highest recruits and the most money possible. It has become clear to me that college athletes should only be allowed one transfer.
