Leigh Seniors Attend County Government Day

On Friday, November 21, Leigh's senior class attended the Colfax County Government Day at the courthouse in Schuyler. This is an annual event the Leigh senior government class attends every year.

At this event, the Leigh seniors joined students from other area schools to learn about local government, participate in a mock trial, and visit the county courthouse.

Senior Sofia Hake commented, "Having the chance to hear how our government works from the workers themselves was very rewarding. It allows students to see what our state and county governments have to do to make lives better for everyone. I will always remember this experience.”

With learning many new things like how the government works and how different positions in the court work, the students attending had a great time.

Leigh history teacher, Mr. Jeff Bachman stated, “This was a great learning experience for our kids. They got a good look at what jobs the county officials do and the importance of local government.”
