Mr. Jorge Gomez Joins LCS Staff

Leigh Community Schools students and staff are excited to have a new but familiar face in the building this year, Mr. Jorge Gomez.

Mr. Gomez started last year after Christmas as a paraeducator and will continue full time this year.

Mr. Gomez grew up in Schuyler, Nebraska and attended Schuyler Central High School. Mr. Gomez is currently working toward earning a degree in Spanish Education to eventually become a Spanish teacher.

Before starting at Leigh Community Schools, Mr. Gomez was no stranger to the area. He previously worked at Bluebird Nursery in Clarkson as a maintenance worker, and he has spent the past several years as a coach for Clarkson-Leigh youth, junior high, and high school sports. He is currently a coach for junior high and high school football and wrestling.

Mr. Gomez and his girlfriend Katie have three kids: Ryan, 20; Liam, 11; and Aria, 10. Outside of school, some of his hobbies include playing soccer, golf, and video games. He also enjoys jet skiing, hanging out with friends, and watching movies.

A quote Mr. Gomez says he likes to live by is from Bob Talbert, “Teaching kids how to count is fine, but teachings kids what counts is best.”

Everyone is excited and looking forward to having Mr. Gomez as a para educator this upcoming school year!
