JH FBall Has Tough Start to Season
The Junior High football team kicked off their season with 2 tough games.
They lost, 6-36 to the Stanton Mustangs in a hard-fought game to start the season.
They turned around and traveled to Beemer to take on Guardian Angels Central Catholic the next week. They played a great game, but lost, 14-34.
The starting quarterback for the team, Jase Clausen said, “The first two games were challenging and pushed us further than we anticipated. Cooper ran the ball really well and was a key player for our team. I am really looking forward to the rest of the season.”
One of the team’s coaches, Mr. Jorge Gomez, said this: “The Jr. High football team played two teams who were pretty tough. Our first game against Stanton was an eye opener to the team and coaches as we have many young 7th graders trying to fill a starting spot. We played tough but learned that we need to play our own game and be physical. We still have a lot to learn and grow. The second game was better as we moved the ball in the first quarter. We were able to do some things defensively but came up short. We had many plays on defense that we could have stopped them, but that all comes back to fundamentals. Very proud of how the boys played and they will come in and try and get better every day.”
