Panthers Crush Panthers

On September 18, the traveling Leigh Panther football team laid the hammer on their Panther brothers Bancroft-Rosalie, taking the game in a commanding 70-18 victory.

Focused on bouncing back from a brutal 16-22 defeat the week before, the Panthers came out hot and ready, scoring 34 points in the first quarter while only allowing 6 points; they kept that hot streak into the second quarter, scoring a further 28.

Senior running back Blake Loseke, responsible for 5 scores, said, “It was a good bounce back win that allowed us to work on the stuff we knew we needed to fix. It was a good opportunity for our younger guys to get a few, much-needed reps.”

The second half would slow down for Leigh, only scoring 8 while allowing 12, but for Bancroft it was too little too late and when the final whistle blew the Leigh Panthers had won 70-18.

Assistant coach and defensive coordinator Cole Fischer was happy with the performance saying, “I thought the boys set the tone early in the game defensively. We had great pressure from our defensive line and made it hard for Bancroft to establish any rhythm offensively.”

This was a good game to get the Panthers ready for their next matchup, the highly anticipated renewed rivalry between Clarkson and Leigh.
